Temporary іnvestigative сommission of Verkhovna Rada to review work of NABU and SAPO – MP Vlasenko

The Temporary Investigative Commission (TIC), concerned over possible corruption within law enforcement and judicial bodies, is launching a review of the effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions. According to Member of Parliament Serhiy Vlasenko, following an audit of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the parliamentary commission intends to hear from the Prosecutor General and other heads of law enforcement agencies, the UNN news agency reported.
"Given the recent audit of NABU, as well as a number of compromising facts recently highlighted in the media and questions regarding effectiveness, the commission will examine the work of NABU and the [Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office] SAPO," Vlasenko said.
The MP noted that the Prosecutor General would be invited to the commission’s next meeting to share his view on the overall performance of the law enforcement system.
"The Prosecutor General is someone who has a clear understanding of the effectiveness of each law enforcement agency. Other law enforcement heads may also be called in for hearings. We will involve the public and representatives of the legal community in the process," he emphasized.
According to Vlasenko, the TIC meeting will be held next week.
